Trap Guarding: Also known as original Vale Tudo guard in bjj from the 90's or catch wrestling. sport bjj slowly killed the effectiveness of actual bjj. great vid Комментарий от : @King-jq5vt |
Amazing vid, thanks mate Комментарий от : @Nenad-ICXC-Shuput-GFAMMA |
The damn robot voice Комментарий от : @AZTigerMMA |
hey bjj scout, how would you compare the Shawn Williams guard system to Neil's? Комментарий от : @jithennacheril8221 |
What''s the song at the end credits? Комментарий от : @jemdikyol9304 |
How about Khabib and GSP's ability to strike from the guard? Комментарий от : @slimahmed5631 |
I think as wrestling in BJJ evolves, the ability to set up a tight clamping guard will become a necessity. Especially in the current no-gi meta, you're seeing more in the way of wrestling from the guard as well as standing. Комментарий от : @xBaconbitz |
great channel ! Комментарий от : @Dikad132 |
love the patches!! Комментарий от : @SergioArroyoSailing |
The link to the Melanson book review is missing. Комментарий от : @downthehatchanditchestoscr7937 |
Great videos! Комментарий от : @122222770 |
I use trap guarding in my jiu jitsu a lot. It even works in sport jiu jitsu so don't overlook it everyone. Комментарий от : @dannybull3185 |
Horrible fake voice man.. Just use your own voice. Thanks Stephen Hawking! Комментарий от : @Rico702Vegas |
Would you consider the head wrap a trap guard? Комментарий от : @McWi11iams |
Best BJJ video around, with they were longer Комментарий от : @eddiex7311 |
Fantastic work. Комментарий от : @armwrestlingsecrets170 |
Beeing a huge fan of your's, got to say I prefer to videos with music and text instead of the robot vioce... :) Комментарий от : @PouyaSthlm |
No credit due for Wing Chun? Hand fighting into sweeps and foot locks can be very utilitarian. Комментарий от : @evil5150 |
The review to Neil's book is missing. Can you post it here? Комментарий от : @francisreigneau8336 |
Scout, if you were to make a complete video curriculum in this style, i'd buy two copies in a heartbeat. Комментарий от : @ShoesMagoo |
Why do a bunch of people hate Neil? Комментарий от : @sabinocardoza956 |
Brilliant as always 🙏 I really enjoyed this episode, Ty sir!! Комментарий от : @stucatz511 |
Perfect timing ! I have been teaching trapping for MMA for the last few weeks . The Irish Collar ,Rat Guard / Williams with the Neil knot . Rubber Guard . Etc... Комментарий от : @reyg7028 |
Brian Ortega has the best guard in MMA right now Комментарий от : @jacksonmcvey2085 |

Mealnson's book is out of production. I hope this vid creates enough demand to get a few more copies pressed. Комментарий от : @dagus834 |
What makes something a meta study? Комментарий от : @aplus1080 |
I think your link of the review of the book is missing from the description. Комментарий от : @Jinjoooo |

Great video scout you are the best Комментарий от : @chadbaird180 |
What's the difference between Neil's Irish collar and Shawn Williams guard? Комментарий от : @timberwolves10452 |
How about Tim Elliot's trap guarding? It's very unique. Комментарий от : @BasicGestalt |
I saw an add. I hope you get some money off that. I hate the robot voice though Комментарий от : @uclababybruin4210 |
Beautiful. The guard is not dead Комментарий от : @TheChadavis33 |
Demi Lovatos gettin into MMA? Комментарий от : @hohnermode11 |
I feel like the point you are making here is at the heart of the conflict between "sport bjj" and "self defense bjj": not having to defend strikes makes for a completely different game, it almost looks like a different martial art Комментарий от : @IrvinLep |
Where's the link to the BJJScout review of Melanson's book? Комментарий от : @calumfraser7222 |
Excellent work! Комментарий от : @jongrappler287 |
When i can get closed guard in BJJ i will take it and also start trapping. i like sean williams guard a lot for this. but good guys will try to avoid glosed guard like crazy. like my coach Sergio Canudo said once, closed guard is mount from bottom, you have all the attacks from mount, plus the sweeps. Keep up the good work!!! Комментарий от : @marschalljakob |
Ah nice! I was struggling with opponents that stand up from my guard, but you showed me it's better to go from the sweep from there instead of forcing the guard. Thanks! Комментарий от : @JoramVandebeld |
Yasssss Комментарий от : @paragon1782 |
Can you do one on how to create the best striking opportunities when you're inside the closed guard? Комментарий от : @rabbychan |
Yesss! Finally the trap guarder series. This is straight up my style thanks for the great content bjjscout Комментарий от : @omarmachado9484 |
Very nice! Комментарий от : @StonnieDennis |

69k subs... oh yeah Комментарий от : @orwell3499 |
Love these videos Комментарий от : @chetfreeland1920 |
What about Crap guarding? See Yoel Romero doodoo session Комментарий от : @gorequillnachovidal |
Short elbows into the abdomen when you are in guard? Jon jones does this. It causes alot of discomfort when someone is driving short sharp elbows into your abdomen, floating ribs, arms ect. Forces the person in guard to re position giving you a window. Комментарий от : @zaccy |
I have trouble explaining to old school practitioners why you don't see pressure passing as much in competition, why is this? Why do we mostly only see speed style passing at the high level of grappling these days??? Комментарий от : @maxoglesby106 |
Ryan Hall has done it again! Thanks for the video. Комментарий от : @anthonymsoto |
Id smack there glass jaws Комментарий от : @conormcgregor2476 |
I AM TRAPPER SWEEPER... Комментарий от : @michaelcorcoran3942 |
Thanks Scout!! Such an interesting topic! This stuff is Rickson approved😂 😎 Henry Akins recently covered this type of trapping as a seminar topic: Vale Tudo Guard -- Scout, would love to see you please cover concepts of invisible / hidden jiujitsu Комментарий от : @MesGuided |
Neil Melanson, No BJJ scout!!! don't reveal my secret source of goodness.!!! Комментарий от : @michaelcorcoran3942 |
Trap guarding is old school and awesome. Good video as usual Of course Buchecha was SUPPOSED to switch to mma but it has been years and apparently training with Cain and Cormier and rockhold every day has sapped his confidence. He COULD be one of the greats probably but he just keeps postponing and wants no part of the high level cage obviously. For reference, CM punk who had no real combat background certainly not at Almeida’s insanely high level, joined the UFC and trained for awhile, then underwent BACK surgery, recovered, fought, lost, and is getting ready to fight again. All this time Buchecha sits there and does nothing. Whats the difference? One guy with none of the skills but all of the heart. The other guy with all the skills and training, but none of the true desire. Hell even Mackenzie Dern has had like 4 missed weights and four fights by the time buchecha gets out of bed and Dern is renowned for taking time off. Trap guarding is old school and awesome.
